1. How Do I Qualify for a GCHFH Habitat Home?

You must have

a) Lived in Granville County for at least the last twelve months
b) A need for adequate shelter (i.e. must be living in substandard conditions),
c) The ability to pay a no-interest mortgage (which includes principal, property taxes, homeowners insurance, and an annual termite inspection) every month back to GCHFH, and
d) A willingness to partner with GCHFH in building your home and in other ways.

2. Where does GCHFH get the land to build the Habitat homes on?

GCHFH periodically purchases land but we really appreciate it if anyone can donate land to us.  Land is not a factor in deciding who is selected to be the next Habitat homewner but if someone owns land and is selected, GCHFH would ask that homeowner to donate their land to GCHFH to either use now or for a future home.

3. What type of volunteers do you need?

GCHFH recruits volunteers to  work in the ReStore, join a Committee or the Board of Directors, Construction Volunteers, and for other administrative work.

4. Who builds the Habitat homes?

Community volunteers, which includes individuals, members of local businesses, churches and community groups, as well some paid laborers (licensed plumbers, electricians, and HVAC professionas), build Habitat homes.

5. Where you get the building materials to build a home?

Some building materials are purchased while other building materials are donated. GCHFH pays for all licenses, permits, and fees.
