In July 1993, Mr. Prokop moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he worked at UNC-Chapel Hill (UNC). In 1995, while working at UNC, he met a woman which turned out to be his future wife, Betty Jo Warner. Betty has been an Oncology nurse at Duke Hospital for 18 years. Mr. Prokop and his family attend St. Thomas More Catholic Church which is also located in Chapel Hill. The Prokop family is very active in their church and their community. Every eight weeks, Mr. Prokop donates blood at the American Red Cross. Once a month on Sunday afternoons, Mr. Prokop visits sick patients at UNC Hospitals. Mr. Prokop occasionally picks up food from a local grocery store and delivers it to the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Family House for their residents to enjoy during their stay. Mr. Prokop also watches the children in the church nursery every Sunday and is a part of St. Thomas More’s Respect Life Committee.

After leaving UNC in 2001, Mr. Prokop accepted an Accounting job at a Durham non-profit. Since then, he has directed two Triangle non-profits before coming to Granville County to direct the local Habitat for Humanity in Oxford.
